Reflections - November 2011

Since the Mansfield Easter Show I have found great difficulty in keeping this website up to date, Sadly, on 23rd April 2010, Peter, my dear husband and friend, passed away after bravely fighting cancer. Peter and I had different interests but he was a great supporter and encouraged me in my art. and it is this that has helped me through the year following his death. My art has carried me, not only in my personal achievements but through all my art friends who have been there for me. Thank you all especially members of the Association of Sculptors.

I have also been helped greatly by my cousins with the farm . They have allowed me such freedom to come and go to their property sometimes to work on my sculpture sometimes just to be there.

Much of my time that first year I was struggling through managing our affairs and trying to get things in order. Working at creating. Organising activities for the sculpture association and exhibiting in exhibitions and galleries balanced things out.

In May 2011 I went overseas to Uk visiting friends and family and a whistlestop trip to Rome which I loved. The highlight of my time away was a 3 three week adventure in Morocco. Fantastic. I went with a great group of 8 ladies and had a wonderful time seeing the most magnificent scenery, meeting happy, adorable people and learning about a culture so complex and exciting. I returned with over 3000 photos. Many I took with the intention of using them as,source material for paintings. I still have to get started on that exciting project.

In 2009 Peter and I spent some time in Northern Territory. I am still working on some large bold paintings from this trip.

I have however spent more time making sculpture and have had some success with sales and commissions. I have entered works in Herring Island Arts Festival. Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, Toorak Village Traders Exhibition, Association of Sculptors Annual Awards and Exhibition .

In 2010 I had a Solo exhibition in Scope Gallery Warrnambool of Sculpture and Paintings.

I am at present getting William cast in Bronze and completing a commission ; sculptures of two small boys playing in a garden. Photos will soon appear on the website.

My first sculptural works were in concrete for Pam and Barry Saunders. The works were placed around their farm which now boasts a boutique vineyard and winery producing very high quality classy wines. The wine has been a great success and I am pleased to announce their new label and website. Kooyonga Chapel Wines are bottling their latest wine under the label of Kooyonga Creek. See
